NKG Streetwear

NKG Streets & More has been the staple streetwear clothing store for Mangere locals since the start of the new millennium. The owners and operators, the Gulabdas family, opened the store in the year 2000 and have been running it since. The business has grown in popularity year upon year with a lot of hard work along the way. We were approached by the youngest son, Kiti, as the family had decided (through a bit of convincing on Kiti’s part) to take the next obvious step forward and develop an online store for the business. 

We began with a consultation with Kiti to better understand the business, specifically the history & values, but to also better understand what products will be sold online and how they will be listed. We then developed a site map for Kiti and family to look through, they came back with a few ideas and considerations which allowed for us to refine our original plans.

As soon as we had the site’s framework built and the products listed and organised correctly, we sat down for another consultation with Kiti. We needed to see in which direction he wanted to take the aesthetic of the online store. After much deliberation, we decided to stay true to the streetwear nature of the store and ran with fonts, colours and imagery that reflected this. 

The launch was a success with the site going live in July 2020. We have now begun the next crucial step; online marketing. This has involved setting up a Google my Business listing for NKG, and developing an effective Google Ads campaign (keep posted for the results).

The online store has become a perfect representation of the bricks & mortar store in the heart of Mangere. This was important to the Gulabdas family, as they wanted to reflect very clearly the humble Kiwi roots of NKG, all while making their awesome products available to the rest of New Zealand. We are excited to continue working with them on their journey to take NKG Streets & More nationwide.
